My teachings are based on a Full SPECTRUM approach, a transformative learning experience that provides participants with new skills and exposes them to applied systems thinking. I fuse best practices, including Crime Prevention through Environmental Design, Placemaking and BC’s Healthy Built Environment Toolkit to help you understand the linkages between our built and natural environments.
Let’s embrace our creativity and see the world through a new lens.

We can’t address the same old problems with the same old thinking! This approach takes participants beyond theory-land by encouraging community stewardship. It supports those who have a strong desire to learn more about the importance of people, place and connection.
LEARNING PODS (NEW)
In honouring our BC Orca Whales, I’m launching a very personalized course that’s meant to break down common barriers (cost and time restraints) for anyone interested in learning more about how they can improve their built environments (homes, businesses, neighbourhoods and communities).
My teachings will be based on the principles of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED). I will be welcoming participants to join my pod this summer (July through September), once weekly for a few hours. Whether you’re a homeowner, operate a business, or are a professional, this course will help you never look at the environment the same way again.
Most CPTED courses are typically 3-5 days in length and run full days, which is extremely difficult for most people, including professionals, to attend. They can also be quite expensive! No more barriers!

All participants will be required to purchase the 3rd edition textbook, titled “Crime Prevention through Environmental Design” (not included in your registration and payment). Timothy D. Crowe was my CPTED instructor in 1999 and remained my mentor until his passing in 2009. I will guide you using this resource, share my project work from various cities throughout Canada and encourage discussions throughout these teachings. Participants who complete this 12-week course will receive a certificate of attendance.
I will be introducing some very Special Guests throughout these weekly sessions. These are trusted colleagues I have worked with over the years, as well as others who are passionate about our built and natural environments.
Are you ready to do a Deep Dive into the abyss of CPTED?
Registrations and payments ($199.00 Canadian Funds, not including GST) will commence immediately, and it’s first-come, first-served until our first pod is full.
YOUTH STEWARDSHIPS
A 2-day teaching that covers the concepts of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design, Placemaking and linkages between our built and natural environments. These best practices and tools will better prepare participants for future employment and careers in such fields as community safety, public health, planning, architecture, and land development.
I personally facilitate these teachings, doing so in small sharing circles that do not exceed 12 youth participants. This includes a field practicum and a certificate of attendance following a peer review of each participant’s work. These teachings are conducted in-person only!
Please use my contact page for further details.
Note: The definition of youth varies by province and context, but generally refers to the ages of 12-19.
